John first saw May at the 85th Church Anniversary at her home church, Christ Temple, October 2022. The sanctuary was filled with celebration, music, and joy... and John was there as an armor bearer for the guest speaker that day, but in the middle of it all, John’s eyes found May. She didn’t notice him that day, but he definitely noticed her. Leaning over to a friend, he whispered with quiet confidence, “She’s beautiful and that’s going to be my wife one day!”

Little did May know, that same afternoon John joined her parents for dinner along with the guest speaker and his wife. John showed attention to detail in certain etiquettes which raised attention to May's mother. As the night went on and further conversation took place, she wanted to introduce him to her daughter. Timing, however, had its own plan, and unbeknownst to John, he did not know that the daughter she mentioned was in fact the young lady that he had laid eyes on earlier that day which added reluctance. 

A few months later, John learned about the  church’s Christmas Cantata, and intentionally wore a crisp white formal jacket to stand out. Still Ms. May did not notice him. At the end of the night he finally had an opportunity to introduce himself to Ms. May. They spoke briefly when May's mother intervened and excitedly expressed her impression. May accepted to take his number—but he never got hers. Still, what’s meant to be doesn’t miss its moment.

About a month later, just after the New Year began, Ms. May reached out to wish him a Happy New Year. That simple message led to a private showing of her art exhibit which became the start of countless conversations, dates, shared laughter, growing friendship, and a love story that felt heaven-written from the very beginning. He formally asked to court her officially and exclusively on Feb 14th, 2023 and proposed August 17th, 2024.

On February 14th, 2025, John and May entered into holy matrimony, honoring their union before God and their immediate family. It was a sacred and intimate celebration filled with love, faith, and purpose.

While they originally envisioned a larger wedding surrounded by extended family and friends, they prayerfully decided to embrace a more private ceremony. This season has allowed them to focus on building a strong foundation, nurturing their love, and growing together as husband and wife.
